Sulam is an inclusive special education program that operates within two host schools in the Greater Washington, DC area: Berman Hebrew Academy and Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Maryland.
Meeting Every Child Where They Are

At Sulam, these words speak directly to our mission. We believe that neurodiverse students have an important place in Jewish day schools, where they can be taught al pi darko—according to the ways they learn best—while developing something equally essential: a deep sense of belonging. With the right support, our students can learn and grow alongside their peers, embraced by a Jewish community in which they are known, valued, and given the opportunity to contribute their own unique strengths.
