Sulam, an inclusion education program for students with learning differences in the Greater Washington area, is seeking an organized, empathetic and knowledgeable social-emotional specialist for our program.  

Sulam, a K-12 Jewish special education inclusion program, provides high quality educational, social, and emotional support for students with disabilities, while teaching the entire community that everyone belongs and can make a vital contribution to the world.

Position Overview

The Instructional Coach supports Sulam educators in delivering high-quality, inclusive instruction for students with diverse learning needs within Sulam. This role partners closely with teachers, instructional assistants, and division directors to strengthen instructional practices, promote differentiated and multisensory learning, and ensure students access meaningful, rigorous academic experiences within inclusive classrooms.

The Instructional Coach models best practices, provides individualized coaching and professional learning, and helps ensure alignment between Sulam’s mission and daily instructional practice.

Responsibilities: 

Instructional Coaching & Professional Support

  • Provide coaching to teachers through observation, modeling, co-teaching, and reflective feedback

  • Support teachers in planning differentiated, inclusive lessons aligned with student learning profiles and FEP goals

  • Assist teachers in scaffolding instruction for diverse learners within general education environments

Curriculum & Instructional Leadership

  • Collaborate with division directors and program leadership to strengthen curriculum implementation

  • Help ensure instructional materials and assessments meet diverse learning needs

  • Support integration of UDL, executive functioning supports, and differentiated instruction

  • Assist with developing and facilitating professional learning sessions

Data & Student Support Systems

  • Partner with educators to analyze student data and monitor progress

  • Support teachers in developing instructional responses and interventions

  • Collaborate with social-emotional and multidisciplinary teams to align academic and SEL supports

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or related field

  • Minimum ___ years of classroom teaching experience (special education/inclusion preferred)

  • Demonstrated expertise in differentiation, inclusion, and multisensory instruction

  • Experience coaching adults or leading professional development preferred

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

  • Familiarity with Jewish day school environments a plus (if relevant)
