Sulam Impact Gala 2022

On the evening of Tuesday, May 17, friends, family, donors, faculty, and students came together at the Sulam Impact Gala to honor two incredible people, Judd and Marilyn Lifschitz, and to celebrate our graduating seniors. It was wonderful to be able to gather together in person for the first time in over two years.

To everyone that showed support to Sulam, whether you were able to attend the Gala or not, whether in advance of or during the event, we are profoundly grateful. You are helping to ensure that Sulam will be able to continue to offer an excellent and innovative education to all of our students.

  • Dedication to community was a value imbued in the homes in which Marilyn and Judah Lifschitz were raised.  From a very young age they were taught by their parents’ examples how very important it is to make a real difference in the lives of others.  This commitment to making an impact on others has been a core focus of their lives together and has expressed itself in their many communal activities, especially in their combined efforts on behalf of Sulam.

Both raised in New York, Judd and Marilyn moved to the Washington area in 1974 where Judd attended GW Law School.  After living in the Silver Spring community for those three years, they decided to make Silver Spring their permanent home and raise their family there. Judd went on to become a partner in Shapiro, Lifschitz and Schram and Marilyn is currently the Director of Financial Operations at Sulam.  Together they were instrumental in the founding of Sulam and have been a devoted team working on behalf of Sulam and its students for over twenty years.

Two of the core values that Judd and Marilyn are proud to have passed on to their children and grandchildren are the importance of making a significant impact in the lives of others and their devotion to Sulam.
