Contribute to Sulam

Our goal is simple -- Raise funds to assist Sulam students and expand our services.

Sulam appreciates and welcomes donations in varying forms and levels. Depending upon the gift amount, a Sulam donor may sponsor a student, purchase an item on our Wish List, procure a reservation for Sulam’s annual event or easily send a note card in honor of a special occasion or in memory of a loved one. Sulam is a not-for-profit 501 c 3 tax exempt organization and all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent as provided by law. Sulam processes varying forms of contributions, i.e. stock transfers, gifts in kind, credit cards and checks.

General Donation Online

Donate Now!Sulam depends upon the generosity of community members to ensure children with diverse learning needs can receive the services they need to access a Jewish day school education. Tax-deductible contributions can be made on-line through JustGive.org. Click here to make your contribution on-line or send your tax deductible contribution to Sulam at 13300 Arctic Avenue, Rockville, Maryland 20854.

With a click of your mouse or the stroke of a pen, you will make a significant difference in a child’s life!"

$100K Matching Challenge: Double Your Contribution to Sulam!

Have you ever wished you could turn $5 into $10 or $500 into $1,000? Well here is your opportunity! Through the generosity of a Sulam supporter, a matching challenge has been presented to the community. For every new or increased donation received, the donor will match dollar for dollar up to $50,000! That’s right, Sulam has the opportunity to raise $100,000 between now and December 3, 2007and YOU can help us achieve that goal!

  • If you contribute $18, it’s really $36 that could purchase a memory stick for a student.
  • If you contribute $100, it’s really $200 that could send a teacher to a professional development workshop.
  • If you contribute $500, it’s really $1,000 that could purchase educational materials to enhance & develop our transition program.

You get the idea. Opportunities abound. Double the purchasing power of your money – it’s a rare opportunity to seize. Remember that the challenge applies to new donations or increased donations only. If you haven’t given to Sulam before, then 100% of your contribution will be matched! Continue your generosity and any increase above your previous donation amount will be doubled. Anyway you look at it, you are sweetening the year for our children and helping the New Year begin with a bang (for the buck – Doubled)!

So please, take a moment right now and make a difference for a child – and for our Jewish community – and send in your tax deductible contribution!

Purim Cards

On Purim it is a mitzvah to give Shaloch Manot, gifts of food, to at least one person. The act of giving gifts to one another helps create a feeling of closeness. Along with this mitzvah is the equally important mitzvah of giving charity to two different people or organizations on Purim. In lieu of sending Shaloch Manot to all of your friends and relatives, send a gift that keeps giving. Purchase our Purim cards to send to friends and relatives acknowledging your closeness to them on the Holiday. Sets of 12 cards and envelopes can be purchased for $24.

Annual Event

Each year the community has occasion to gather in support of Sulam, its mission and its students at its Annual Event. Outstanding members of the community are recognized for their heartfelt dedication to and involvement with Sulam. The event is usually held in March and is attended by individuals throughout the Greater Washington Jewish Community. This is Sulam’s primary fundraiser and a celebration of many successes!

Corporate sponsorships are available for this high profile event and companies may receive substantial advertising opportunities depending upon the sponsorship level. Please contact the Sulam office for details.

To make a reservation or to purchase a page in the Event Ad Journal, please contact Estie Katz in the Sulam office at 301-962-9400 ext. 5523 or at katzestie@MJBHA.org.

Sponsor A Student

Sulam provides highly specialized and individualized programming for its students. It is a combination of the programming and expert staff which enables our students to access the curriculum and achieve success. As with anything of value, the cost is reflective of the quality. Sulam families pay a program fee that is upwards of $25,000 per student. In some instances, families pay over $40,000.00 for one child who requires additional 1:1 staffing all day. And just as in any private school, the program fees don’t cover the full cost per student.

Sulam does not offer a scholarship program. Many families can not afford Sulam; the access to a Jewish day school education which their child needs. You can provide that access! Contributions can be restricted to offset the cost of the program and to open the door to Jewish education for a child who desperately desires it.

For more information about Sponsoring a Student as an individual or as a corporation, contact Amy Werbin, Executive Director at 301-962-9400 ext. 5189 or at werbina@mjbha.org.

Get Involved!

“It takes a village” as the saying goes. Sulam has numerous volunteer opportunities and would love to have you be a part of our family! Contact the Sulam office at 301-962-9400 ext. 5523 to obtain more information.
