Sulam Lower School at TSGW
Grades K-6
Sulam at the Torah School of Greater Washington (TSGW) re-opened in September 2010-2011. The Torah School embraces the specialized instruction that Sulam provides and was the first Sulam host school, from 1998-2004. The Torah School location offers many of the same services found at the Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy (MJBHA) location and is staffed with a special educator and instructional assistant as well as by a traveling team of professionals, including the school psychologist, speech pathologist and professional development specialist. These professionals meet directly with Sulam students and hold regular consultative sessions in order to closely monitor the students’ programs.
Sulam student programs are carefully tailored to meet their specific needs and the close collaborative relationship between the Sulam staff and the Torah School staff allows Sulam students to be integrated seamlessly into their mainstream classes.
Self contained classroom instruction takes place in a beautiful classroom that includes space for expansion in future years.
The goal for Sulam students at the Torah School—as at the MJBHA-- is to provide the opportunity for children to thrive and develop into contributing members of the Jewish community within a Jewish day school environment.
We hope to have an opportunity to talk to you more about the Sulam Lower School program at the Torah School of Greater Washington. To schedule an appointment with Mrs. Rachel Sushner, Director of Special Education, please call the Sulam office at 301-962-9400, extension 5523.
