Sulam Divisions

Sulam, Inc. programs are separated by division, allowing us to serve students from kindergarten through grade 12 in four locations. Across all sections, the Sulam mission of inclusion remains the same.

At the Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy (MJBHA), Sulam serves students K-12.

The Sulam lower school (grades K-5) and Sulam middle school (grades 6-8) divisions, headed by Rabbi Uri Meyers, are programs of The Sulam School, an Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) accredited nonpublic independent school.

The She'arim lower school division (grades K-5) is a program of The Sulam School which focuses on both academic and life skills instruction and is headed by Ms. Israelle Resti.

The Sulam upper school division (grades 9-12) functions as a subdivision of the MJBHA upper school.

The new She'arim high school program which opened its first 9th grade class in September 2011, is a separately MSDE accredited nonpublic independent school. She’arim high school students receive academic, life skills and vocational instruction. Graduates will be awarded high school diplomas by She’arim.

At the Torah School of Greater Washington (TSGW), Sulam serves elementary school students.

Since 2010, Sulam has again partnered with its original host school, the Torah School of Greater Washington. Staffed by a multi-disciplinary team, the Torah School Sulam program offers students many of the same Sulam services found at the Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy. The Sulam program at TSGW is supervised by Ms. Rachel Sushner, Sulam Director of Special Education.

At the Yeshiva of Greater Washington (YGW) Girls Division locations, Sulam serves students in grades 7 to 12.

Sulam provides supplemental (part-time) services to students at the  Yeshiva of Greater Washington Girls Division . Students participate in study strategies classes with a Sulam special educator and have the option of educational coordination. The Sulam programs at YGW are supervised by Mrs. Rachel Sushner, Sulam Director of Special Education.
