Twice Exceptional Services

Ivy Leichman

Ivy Leichman, a 34 year veteran of Montgomery County Public Schools is Sulam’s new Twice Exceptional Resource specialist. Her role is to address the needs of students who are both intellectually gifted and have learning differences. These students have previously been referred to as GT/LD students.

Starting in 2011-12, working together with the resource teams in our host schools, Ivy is identifying students who may benefit from specially designed supplemental programming that will help them reach their full potential.

Classes designed for Twice Exceptional students engage and enhance their advanced intellectual capacity, while providing strategies and technologies to support deficit areas. Common deficit areas include reading, writing, working memory and/or organizational skills.

If you know of a student who could benefit from Sulam’s Twice Exceptional Program, please contact the Sulam office at 301-962-9400 x 5523 for more information.
