Rachel Ravin, Ph.D
Dr. Rachel Ravin, an integral member of the Sulam team, is a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with children and adolescents who have a wide range of learning differences, social difficulties and emotional and behavioral challenges. Dr. Ravin works with students from preschool through high school, providing therapy and support for all full time Sulam students each week.
Dr. Ravin’s days are filled with a variety of roles. She might spend lunch with a younger student helping to improve social skills, and then walk the track with a high school student while discussing emotional concerns. She might run a therapy group, and then play a game with a student to help decrease impulsivity. She might call an outside therapist to provide information about a student, and she might contact a parent to discuss something related to school or home. Rachel has keen insights into the needs of each student, and willingly shares her perspective with fellow teachers and parents.
In addition, Dr. Ravin:
- Participates in Sulam multidisciplinary team meetings
- Observes host school students and consults with their teachers, parents and administrators on a variety of subjects, behaviors and issues
- Coordinates care in crisis situations
- Navigates both school and family life issues with each Sulam student, guiding parents by providing them with her professional insights
- Delivers presentations on behavioral topics of interest to Sulam and host school faculties
- Leads social skills groups with Sulam and host school students
