Our Occupational Therapy (OT) Department is headed by Mrs.Susan Zwany, who has practiced pediatric occupational therapy for over 30 years. Susan has headed the Department since the inception of Sulam; as part of her private practice she consults for Montgomery County.

OT evaluation and therapy is available to all Sulam students. Students are able to benefit from OT services that focus on developing skills in areas of sensory integration, sensory modulation, attention, visual motor, motor planning, fine motor and handwriting.

Our students’ therapy goals are integrated into their educational plans and are geared to ensure classroom success. All therapy sessions take place during the school day in our fully equipped therapy room.

Our therapists are part of an interdisciplinary team in our lower and middle schools and we attend all team meetings for students receiving OT services. For students who are not receiving direct OT services, we are available during the school day for consultations. The OT department is an integral part of the admissions process and we attend all Admissions Committee meetings. We also provide instructional workshops for the Sulam and Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy staff in relevant areas such as handwriting or sensory modulation.
